Lab 1: Capital Raising

Format: Group coaching with 1-5 or up to 1-10 participants

The Benefit: Founders will learn how to develop a comprehensive business plan, prepare financial statements, build a compelling pitch deck, identify and approach investors, and negotiate effectively.

The Requirements:

Assessment Before: Pre-lab survey to understand current knowledge and experience with capital raising.

Assessment After: Post-lab assessment to evaluate understanding and readiness for capital raising.

Difference from 16-week Program: This lab offers a deeper exploration of capital raising strategies with hands-on exercises, role-plays, and workshops that build on the comprehensive content provided in the 16-week program.

5-weeks Coaching Program

Week 1: Understanding Financial Needs and Business Plan Development

  • Objectives:
  1. Identifying capital requirements
  2. Developing a comprehensive business plan
  • Preparation:
  1. Review your current financial status and gather all financial records.
  2. Outline your business goals and objectives for the next 1-5 years.
  3. Prepare a draft of your business plan, if available.

Week 2: Preparing Financial Statements and Valuation

  • Objectives:
  1. Overview of key financial statements
  2. Introduction to company valuation techniques
  • Preparation:
  1. Collect and review your income, balance, and cash flow statements.
  2. Research basic valuation methods and come prepared with questions.

Week 3: Building a Pitch Deck

  • Objectives:
  1. Key elements of a compelling pitch deck
  2. Pitch deck creation
  • Preparation:
  1. Draft a preliminary pitch deck with key sections such as problem, solution, market opportunity, and business model.
  2. Identify your business's unique value proposition.

Week 4: Identifying and Approaching Investors

  • Objectives:
  1. Researching potential investors
  2. Networking strategies
  • Preparation:
  1. Create a list of potential investors who align with your industry and business stage.
  2. Develop a networking strategy and identify key events or platforms for investor engagement.

Week 5: Negotiation and Due Diligence

  • Objectives:
  1. Understanding term sheets
  2. Preparing for due diligence
  • Preparation:
  1. Familiarize yourself with the basic components of a term sheet.
  2. Gather all legal, financial, and operational documents for due diligence.
